Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank until now. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 purchase to provide 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of the family of 10 children and was raised in Edgewater. Florence was her mother. She was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. Her family sometimes relied on the free delivery of food from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father being an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with contempt and disrespect, particularly after he had been drinking. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to an area Catholic elementary school and started high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
