Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th, 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of United States. She is the first vice president to be female and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for healthcare reform, federal descheduling of cannabis, a path for immigrants who are not legal citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also backed progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings earned the attention of the nation, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
